Dr. Wainwright earned his PhD at the University of Liverpool, UK. He worked in FAGOR Electronica before moving to Microsemi Corporation (now Microchip) where he became a Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the High Reliability Division.

Subsequently he went on to found Freebird Semiconductor (now EPC Space) in the USA which successfully forged the market for Power GaN in satellite applications. Simon then consulted with VisIC Technologies an Israeli company dedicated to the use of GaN in the inverters for Electric Vehicles.

Currently he is CEO and President of Semi Zabala, a company that offers a European source of GaN for Space with superior characteristics.
